Migration
Update: The
migration has been completed as of June 3, 2006
We are proud to announce we have partnered with
Rackspace.com for our datacenter needs.
"Rackspace Managed Hosting™ is a fast-growing
managed hosting provider. Founded in 1998,
Rackspace has built a world-class service
organization based on its philosophy of Fanatical
Support™. Rackspace offers a wide range of
managed services for enterprise hosting platforms
and currently hosts 15 percent of the Fortune 100
Companies."
Due to our phenomenal growth we have decided to move
our servers to a Tier 1 level provider with a great
record and great support. This will allow
SalesJunction.com to grow faster and expand our hardware
and network infrastructure in a seamless manner.
We are very proud of this move and look forward to
working with Rackspace for a long time to come.
The migration process will take about a day to complete
and we must shut down access to SJ during this time.
The reason we must do this is so that we don't end up
migrating older data and miss some of your updates.
Here is the process that will occur:
- Servers will be setup and configured at
Rackspace (this has already been done)
- We will take SJ down on Saturday morning around
midnight EST.
- We will backup all the customer databases and
move them to the new Rackspace servers.
- We will restore the data on the new servers into
SQL Server 2005.
- DNS pointers will be updated at step 2 which
will take from 1-12 hours to propagate out to
everyone.
- After all databases have been restored we will
bring SJ back online.
The whole process should only take a day to complete.
